Track Everything with the Wolfram Data Drop IFTTT Channel!

In March, we launched the Wolfram Data Drop, an open service that makes it easy to accumulate data of any kind, from anywhere—setting it up for immediate computation, visualization, analysis, querying, or other operations. Now we are announcing the release of the Wolfram Data Drop Channel, which lets you track and accumulate data from your everyday apps, devices, and services available in IFTTT wherever and whenever you want. IFTTT—which stands for "if this then that"—is a service that coordinates apps and other services, triggering one to do something when something else happens in another. IFTTT products and apps are organized in Channels of triggers and actions that are used to create personalized recipes and buttons on your mobile devices. A typical recipe could be "If anyone posts a new Instagram photo from Central Park, then add the photo's URL to a databin":

Wolfram Technology Conference 2015: Pushing the Boundaries of Computation

The Wolfram Technology Conference 2015 is just a few weeks away, and we're excited to demonstrate the latest in cloud computing, interactive deployment, mobile devices, and more as we explore how Wolfram technologies are pushing the boundaries of computation. If you haven't already reserved your spot for this year's conference, there's still time to register. As the conference draws closer, we're putting finishing touches on the event schedule, which will include in-depth presentations, hands-on workshops, "Meet-Ups" for attendees with similar interests, recognition of 2015 Wolfram Innovator Award winners, and lots of networking opportunities. New Publications Using Wolfram Technologies

We're always on the lookout for new ideas and ways of using the Wolfram Language that our users produce and choose to write about in their books. In this quarter, we have applications that bridge the gap between art and geometry, and demonstrate intuitive data analysis. In addition to writing books, Wolfram welcomes authors to submit articles for publication in The Mathematica Journal, our very own in-house periodical.

Registration for the 2015 Wolfram Technology Conference Now Open!

The 2015 Wolfram Technology Conference is officially on the horizon, and we are getting excited to show you what we've been doing with the Wolfram Language and our growing technology stack. While assembling your calendar for the rest of the year, be sure to save the date for our conference from October 20--22, 2015. Registration is now open, so be sure to secure your spot and submit any talk proposals you may have. If you're looking for inspiration or just want a taste of what's to come, videos from last year's conference are available on our website. We saw an impressive array of presentations from both guests and our very own developers; below is a sampling of some of the most engaging innovations and projects that were shown.

European Wolfram Technology Conference Draws Near!

Come and join us in Frankfurt for the third European Wolfram Technology Conference, Wolfram Research Europe's action-packed annual showpiece event. Set for 2--3 June in Germany’s financial capital, the conference is where our latest releases will be showcased. You can also hear from our team of experts, as well as enjoy the opportunity to connect with Wolfram technology users from all over the world. Join the Wolfram Student Ambassador Program!

Are you a student and a technology junkie? If so, keep reading! The Wolfram Student Ambassador Program allows exemplary students the opportunity to further their tech career by acting as the face of Wolfram at their universities (plus earn some great swag, opportunities, and prizes). For this pilot program, we are searching for one representative each from colleges and universities all around North America. We are looking for the top tier of technical talent, the peak of perfection, the coolest of coders. The ideal candidate will have 10—14 hours to dedicate to the program each month. They are already a leader on campus, charismatic and loved by all, and with an undying passion for Wolfram technologies.

Reliability Analysis in SystemModeler 4.1

Explore the contents of this article with a free Wolfram SystemModeler trial. Today we are proud to announce the release of Wolfram SystemModeler 4.1. We will present some of the news in blog posts, beginning with this one, in which we will highlight the new reliability functionality. We will illustrate this with an example, and you can try it out by downloading a trial version of SystemModeler and this example model, and a trial of the Wolfram Hydraulic library. Most people probably have experiences with things they bought and liked, but that then suddenly failed for some reason. During the last few years we have both experienced this problem, including a complete engine breakdown in Johan's car (the engine had to be replaced), and Jan's receiver, which suddenly went completely silent (the receiver had to be sent in for repair and have its network chip replaced). In both cases it caused problems for the customers (us) as well as for the producer. These are just a couple of examples, and we're sure you have your own.

Wolfram Summer Schools and Summer Camps

Imagine people from all around the world, young and old, neuroscientists and quantum physicists, Arduino hackers and music composers, gathered with Stephen Wolfram and his team in one place to discover new science and technology. That’s the Wolfram Science Summer School, which for the last decade or so has been my favorite time of the year. When it was founded in 2003, the school’s focus was on Stephen Wolfram’s A New Kind of Science, but its scope has expanded to include what is now called Wolfram Science. Stephen Wolfram explained in a blog post last year how this school is like entrepreneurship science. It’s not about doing the same old stuff, as you might get in a typical academic environment.
